Ninja Story - Ep1: A deadly foe

Enjoy my latest project: Ninja Story!
A comic made in MS Paint about ninja's 'n stuff. It's something a bit different than my usual Paint Stick Wars. Also, I'm hardly working on a new website, so it should be up in like 2 years.

Check out episode 1: "A deadly foe" (Imgur link)

Be on the lookout for episode 2: "Sworn revenge"

Dungeon Wars!

Whenever I create a new character in a role playing game and I’m asked to “choose my race”, I always wonder what stats “real life races” would have if they were gamified (gamified?). So being my productive self, I created a generic character customisation screen and distributed points to several attributes often used in RPG games. I distributed the points as I believe races are often stereotypically depicted in (Western) media. So bear in mind that this is a gross overgeneralization of races and their strengths and weaknesses.

I’m also planning on making the next steps of character creation for this fictional game: available classes, final stats (attack, defence, magic attack, ...), weapons, special traits, etc.

Enjoy the graphic, entirely made in MS Paint of course!

Working on something new involving these guys.

Ninja wars coming up!

After doing the Epic wizard duel, I started experimenting with these guys.
I'm well aware of their alarming lack of "stickness", but trust me, it's allowed.

This is a big project, so it'll take a while!

The votes are in!
You voted for Magic staff guy!

In truth he was my favorite too. Red cloak guy looks evil… in a bad way.
I made sure Magic staff guy kicked his ass wizard style!

Enjoy!

Wild West Gold Rush!

As announced some 10 000 years ago, I bring you: Wild West Gold Rush!

A while ago, I went to see Abraham Lincon: Vampire Hunter. When the movie had finished and after I was done throwing up and trying to get my money back, it hit me. A Paint Stick War set in the Wild West! Awesome! Something good came out of seeing that movie after all. (Good thing too, I was starting to run out of ideas.)

Easier said than done though. The look of an 1800s western town isn’t so straightforward as a modern day city so I had to do some research (like a pro). I did include some fantasy elements like the steam powered balloon and 1800s sniper rifles. Some might call it steampunk. I don’t.
Speaking of steam, there’s a steam locomotive in it! Together with the armored carriage, it took up about 1/3rd of the draw time!
Also note the close range gun battle due to lack of accuracy and range of the weapons.

The scene, as always,  is pretty self-explanatory.
The top hat guys have come back with loads of gold from the goldmine in the background. They want to finish up loading their train and get back to their slaves loving families. The other guys are basically after their gold and have taken control of the train station and half the town.
I’m rooting for the brown hat guys, the top hat guys remind me of that movie too much.

Guns blazin' in the Wild West!

I’ll guide you through starting from the left.
In case you haven’t noticed, the building on the far left is… a whorehouse! If you zoom in, you can see a guy climbing down the window to avoid paying the pretty redhead. She probably forgot her derringer at home.

The top hats are arriving in town with their armored gold filled carriage. To protect their newly acquired riches, they’ve outfitted their carriage with a freakin’ Gatling gun! Nothing says “stay away from my gold” like a Gatling gun! Look at it firing away! POP POP POP! Accuracy isn’t everything you know.

The sheriff of the town… is a drunk. He’s all like “What the hell’s going on in my town?”. BAM! Hole through the roof. As a pastime, he likes lying on his roof, staring at the stars (while drunk) and shooting birds (obviously not at night). In all the commotion, his prisoner is escaping with the help of his stick buddy. What a screwup that sherriff.

The top hats hare doing all they can to protect their precious cargo. Rifles firing away, pistols discharging everywhere. They’re even preparing to blow up the railway! Don’t know if that’s such a good idea though…

The large building in the middle is the saloon. You can see two drunks brawling in front of it, as was the style at the time. The brown hats have infiltrated the saloon in order to gain more high ground.

Down on the battlefield, the brown hat sticks are fighting bravely, despite some being heavily wounded.
The station is in full control of the brown hat sticks. They’ve captured the engineer and are trying to load the gold on the train. Some snipers are taking aim on top of the station. You can see how they’ve assembled their rifle, using a special kit (with a little imagination).

The steam powered balloon, which I admit is not a really well thought out idea with the weight and the coal and all, but fuck it, is dropping in more reinforcements and most likely has a shitload of dynamite on board!
Those top hat guys won’t know what hit them.

Keep spreadin' them wars ya hear!

I know I know, It’s been a while. I got a bit sidetracked by work lately, so the tutorial announced in last Preview will just have to wait. As will the 1800’s western scene featuring “The Gatling Sir”.

But I’m not sorry.

You know why?

Because of this awesome shit! YEAH!

As you can see, it's a work in progress. But man is this FUN!

Zombie apocalypse: The aftermath

In a post apocalyptic world, few humans remain. But those who do, have organized and adapted, and are building a glorious new human capital. This capital will strengthen what is left of civilization and gather all remaining knowledge and technology into one place, so that the zombies may finally be defeated.

Resources however, cannot be found in one place and must be extracted on site. These well defended sites known as “fortresses” are permanently manned by a small crew. Dropships regularly visit to resupply and transport the extracted resources to hubs, where they can be divided amongst the settlements or taken to the capital.

The fortresses have several means of defense.
The underground corridors have thick walls of reinforced concrete.
The perimeter of the fortress is protected by a heavy razor wire fence which is electrified.
To prevent underground attacks, proximity mines are usually placed around the perimeter.
As a last resort, the tower can flood the immediate area with an extremely corrosive acid which will disable the zombies and make them easier the shoot down.

Oh, the humanity!

This scene depicts a water mining fortress which is being attacked by zombies. Unfortunately someone (I’m not naming any names) has placed a proximity mine too close to the living quarters. A string of explosions has effectively blown a corridor to the outside, and the zombies are flooding in, looking for fresh human blood (or brains or whatever… Maybe they are just looking for love?).

Above ground the crew is loading the dropship and doing the best they can to keep the zombies from coming too close. The fence is doing its job, but the zombies are still getting over, so the tower is hurling its acid all over the place!
With the aid of the well armed dropship, this attack will do little damage.
Underground however, the situation is more dire…

The alarms are going off and everyone is in a state of shock, as no one expected an underground attack. Fortunately some coolheaded sticks are taking care of business. But the zombies are relentless and they will not wait for the sticks to reload…
The emergency protocol is in effect and the steel doors coming down to avoid further loss of the fortress. However, due to a major flaw in design the entire living quarters will be lost, as there are two ladders connecting the four levels. Architects these days, right?

Let’s just hope the dropship has enough room to extract everyone in time… if it doesn’t, it will be every man for himself! (I say every man because the remaining women are in the settlements breeding of course).

Can you spot two memes?

Gatling like a sir!

As you may or may not know, making Paint Stick Wars is hard work. (yes it is)
It takes hours of pixel by pixel drawing to complete a scene, not to mention the complex thought process involved in orchestrating a well balanced battle! (Seriously, someone should give me a medal for this!)

You should also to take into account the limitations of MS Paint when making a stick war scene.
For example:
  • You cant properly cut out segments as you would in Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • You cant freely rotate segments as you would in Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • Basically you cant do a whole shitload of things you would like to be able to do.
  • Also, you can't really use too much diagonal lines, it creates too much jagged edges and is just confusing.

After some experimenting (in MS Paint!), I started noticing I had developed some tips and tricks to make my life easier. (Just compare one of my earlier works (War 2.0) with one of my latest (Loading bay breachand youll see what I mean.)

Anyway Ive decided (really just now, typing this text which had no apparent purpose af first) to create a tutorial for Paint Stick Wars in MS Paint!
Isnt that great news?

Weren’t you waiting for just that?!

Now, put your pants back on and sit back down!

Seriously, sit down...

Im currently still working on two other PSWs: a 3D Western scene (preview) and a 2D Zombie underground apocalypse style scene, so the tutorial will have to wait for a few weeks.

Until then, watch out for the next Paint Stick War!

Loading bay breach

###INCOMING_TRANSMISSION_INTERSTELLARNEWS###

Space station MSP2 is under heavy attack by an unknown aggressor. You are now watching live footage of the event.

The term "hostile takeover" has taken on a new meaning!

While several sections of the station are being attacked as a diversion, the loading bay, which is the weakest point in its defense, has been chosen by the enemy to infiltrate the station in full force.
By keeping the station’s fighters occupied, a boarding ship has managed to dock at the loading bay and is severely testing the bay’s defenses with a highly coordinated attack.

The invading force seems to have intimate knowledge of the bay’s defense systems. Using portable shield generators, have been able to quickly establish a beachhead. While these shields do deflect normal energy weapons, they do not offer protection from heavy energy blasts. To counter the mechanized defense force of the station, the invaders have brought portable heavy energy weapons and high energy EMP grenades, which are very effective.

The loading bay is primarily protected by a massive high energy shield. The aim of the attack seems to be to disable it by placing explosives at its energy relay. The high energy shield is the only thing able to deflect the boarding ship’s devastating main phaser weapon.

When the station was designed, it was generally assumed that the station’s defenses and fighters would be enough to keep enemy ships from docking at the station. This means the bay shield was never designed to deflect portable energy weapons, rendering the bay vulnerable to infiltration.

The intentions of the aggressor are not entirely clear at this point. However, since the station is vital for resource trade and a key strategic point in the sector, it is assumed the station will be captured, rather than destroyed. Assumptions are also being made as to the identity of the aggressor. The advanced technology and coordinated attack suggest either Jupicore or MeteoCorp. is behind the attack, rather than a politically motivated aggressor.

The sneak attack has come as a complete surprise to the Lunar Earth Alliance, which has assured the enemy will not go unpunished and has declared all out war to the unknown organization behind the attack.

Our thoughts go out to the brave men and women protecting the station.

Zombie apocalypse!

*narrator voice on*

Locked up for decades and long forgotten, a super race of highly aggressive and dexterous zombies has finally broken out of its prison.

A cold war army experiment gone wrong, the zombies, who were supposed to turn out like super soldiers, were deemed far too dangerous and uncontrollable by command. Having spent millions on the research project which would lead to these events, command was reluctant to destroy the product of its endeavours. It was decided the zombies were to be locked away so that future researchers could continue the project.

The precautions taken to prevent these creatures from ever emerging however, were thought of too fast and too poorly. The cover-up needed to be fast, cheap and discrete.
They were wrong. Wrong to think a few rusty iron bars would hold these terrible creatures.

The base where the project had been buried did have a contingency plan. In case of a breakout, the zombies would have to be held back long enough to place and activate explosive devices which would eradicate the creatures permanently.
This contingency plan, however elegant in its simplicity, turned out to be not so simple in execution.

To create a vertical barrier, several plateaus were constructed between the holding cell and the exit. This way, the zombies would have to jump from one plateau to another. The zombies, however turned out to be far more dexterous and powerful than the researches could have imagined. The base guards soon found themselves overrun...

*narrator voice off*

Zombie apocalypse imminent!

These zombies are pissed off and hungry! Look at the zombie standing in the hole! Scary shit. These things move like “I am legend” –zombies, jumping and climbing their way to freedom and a protein rich meal! You can see them fighting over one of the base guards. And as if their superhuman strength and dexterity aren’t enough, they hurl acid too! These guys never stood a chance.

But what’s that? It looks like some future warriors (from the future) are being teleported in to stop the zombies from breaking out! Equipped with state of the art weaponry and jet boots, they might just be able to turn the tide! The breakout obviously had disastrous consequences if some future government is sending soldiers back in time...

If the zombies are able to defeat the future soldiers, they still have to deal with stick Rambo. And he’s packing a minigun!

Ninja’s guarding an exit is always a good idea. Don’t ask me where they come from, they do seem a bit out of place. But you can never have enough ninja’s around!

Hopefully this colourful bunch is enough to stave off the apocalypse!
